Lighting, AV, and control systems for spaces that need to just work.
Commercial lighting control, conference-room AV, retail and hospitality scenes, audio systems, cameras, and the wiring that supports it all. We work with offices, retail, hospitality, and other small businesses across northern Michigan.
SAF-Electric — full electrical contracting — launches mid-summer.
What we handle today
If your space has a control system, an A/V need, or a structured-wiring problem,
we probably do it. If you're not sure whether your project is a good fit, ask —
we'll give you a straight answer either way.
Professional lighting controls
Sized to the space — from a single office to a multi-room commercial floor —
programmed for the way the space actually gets used. Daylight harvesting,
occupancy sensing, scheduled scenes, and the kind of override controls that
don't require a tech to change a setting at 4am.
Lighting-control system design & programming
Occupancy & daylight sensors
Scheduled scenes & overrides
Energy reporting & tuning
Conference room A/V
Displays, microphones, video conferencing, and the cabling behind it.
Designed so a non-technical user can walk in, push one button, and have a
working call thirty seconds later — without an IT escalation.
Samsung / LG displays on Strong or MantelMount arms
Mic & speaker layout (Klipsch, Episode, Sonance installed)
Zoom / Teams room setup
Single-button room start
Retail & hospitality lighting scenes
Time-of-day scenes that match what the space is for: bright and crisp in the
morning, warmer and softer at dinner, dialed back to security levels overnight.
One look in the morning, another at close — without anyone touching a switch.
Restaurant / café scene programming
Retail display & accent lighting
Gallery & tasting-room scenes
Astronomical scheduling (sunset)
Audio systems & paging
Background music that sounds good in every zone, paging that's actually
intelligible at the back of the store, and a single source of truth for the
whole building. Distributed audio done right, not by accident.
Sonos multi-zone or installed Klipsch / Episode (your call)
Restaurant & retail systems
Paging & announcement
Outdoor patio audio
Structured wiring
Hardwired data and fiber drops, plus a centralized rack that someone can
actually work in. Whether you're moving in, expanding, or just tired of cable
spaghetti behind the front desk.
Hardwired data & fiber drops
POS, kiosks, kitchen systems
Centralized Strong rack & patch panel
Cable management & labeling
Wi-Fi, mesh & small-business network
Right-sized router, the right number of access points, separation between
guest, staff, and point-of-sale traffic, and a real network plan instead of
"whatever the cable company shipped." eero for simpler
spaces (boutiques, cafés, salons), managed networking when the space needs
deeper controls.
eero mesh for simpler spaces
Managed networking for larger or higher-security spaces
Guest / staff / device / POS network separation
Wired backhaul, site survey & tuning
Maintenance walk-throughs
For businesses that want to stay ahead of problems: a periodic visit, system
health check, programming refresh, and a written report of what's working,
what's marginal, and what should be on the budget for next year.
Quarterly or semi-annual visits
Lighting & A/V system health check
Network & rack tidy-up
Written report with priorities
Remote support & system health
Every commercial install gets a WattBox IP-controlled
power conditioner and OvrC cloud monitoring — so a
locked-up router or A/V switcher gets rebooted from the road without
a service call. You stay open; we fix it before the next customer
walks in.
WattBox IP power conditioner in every rack
OvrC cloud monitoring & alerts
Remote reboot of network, A/V, and POS gear
Same-day fixes without a truck roll, most of the time
Cameras & on-site recording
Pro-grade cameras that record to a hard drive on-site — clean cabling, real
recording, and remote view that doesn't require a per-camera subscription.
Sized for retail floors, restaurants, offices, parking, and outdoor coverage.
4K Luma cameras
Records locally — no monthly cloud fees
Indoor / outdoor / weatherproof installs
Manager & staff phone-app access via the Luma app

How a commercial job goes
Same shape as residential, with more coordination if you're sharing the building
with other trades or the public:
Process steps
/01
Walk-through
We come to the space, look at the existing systems and the scope, and ask the questions that matter — including how disruptive the work can be to your operation.
/02
Pricing
Most commercial work is billed time-and-materials with the rate disclosed up front. For larger defined-scope projects (a full controls package, an A/V build), a fixed-price quote can be prepared on request.
/03
Schedule
We work around your hours where it makes sense — early morning, after close, weekends — so customers and staff aren't dodging extension cords.
/04
Wrap-up
System tested, walk-through with you, itemized invoice, and digital paperwork. We follow up after a week to make sure everything's working as expected.
How pricing works
Commercial work at SAF-Integration is billed time and materials
with the hourly rate disclosed up front. You pay for the hours we actually work
and the parts we actually use — itemized clearly on the invoice.
Larger, well-defined commercial projects (a full lighting-controls package, an
A/V build, a multi-week structured-wiring pull) can be quoted as fixed-price
on request. If your project needs a firm number for a budget
approval or a property-management sign-off, just say so when you reach out.
Walk-throughs are free. We don't charge for showing up to scope the work.
